Dr. Romie entered neurology at a time when less than 5% of neurologists were women. Born into an Asian family in the small Midwestern town of Danville, Illinois, Dr. Romie is the proud daughter of immigrants and a hard-working product of the US public school system. From a young age, she showed all the signs of entering a STEM career–growing up with a tribe of brothers, playing with toy trucks and building blocks over Barbie dolls, and being captain of the speech and debate team for three years.
Dr. Romie is in partnership with the Girl Scouts of Citrus Council, and is pulling her network together to support a program troop located in Volusia County, FL. These girls, range in age from Kindergarten to high school, are offered a traditional Girl Scout experience in an untraditional setting.
All net proceeds from the cookie program stay with Citrus Council and will help offset troop expenses (uniforms, program, activities, and other fees).
